We all have two voices in our heads.
One encourages us, pushing us beyond our limitations and changing our perception of ourselves and the world. This voice is your best friend, the one you need to listen to more often—or perhaps the one you’ve ignored for so long that it has become so small, you can only hear it in total silence. It softly whispers: You can pursue this dream, you can start this business, you can open to love again. There’s no limit with this voice because it is the light within! This voice will guide you through the fog and show you the door in complete darkness. It will make you invincible, unstoppable, and reveal hidden strengths when faced with adversity. It will help you see the light in yourself and in others. It will help you recognize the love within you and in those around you.
The other voice is what I call the Spirit Killer. It highlights your weaknesses and magnifies them, making it seem like you can never change. It kills hope and passion with thoughts like, “You’ve been hurt before, why believe anymore?” It takes every hidden insecurity and finds external confirmations, telling you, “You are weak,” “You are unworthy,” or “You are unlovable.” It is the SPIRIT KILLER, and IT MUST. BE. STOPPED!
The real battle is this: the battle of self. It is the biggest battle for human beings. We often see the enemy in others, but what if our biggest enemy is within? A self-created enemy? The battle ends when we say to the spirit killer voice: I hear you, I see you, but I’m not letting you in, because I am light, I am love, I am peace.
It ends when we understand that the voice of the spirit killer was never truly our own. It was created by the voice of a loved one who told you that acting (or singing painting, or writing, or dancing etc…) wasn’t a real job, and even if it was, you didn’t know how to do it. It was built on the criticism from teachers, the noise of the classroom, and the teasing of siblings. It was created by a society that never gave you a break: not being too sensitive because it’s weak, not being too assertive because it’s mean, not being too pretty because it draws attention, not spending time alone because it’s selfish. Like a Trojan horse, the spirit killer slowly invaded your mind and lived there for years, in this castle of glass that only you can break.
We all have two voices, but only one is worth listening to.
Which voice do you listen to more often? The one that encourages you, or the one that slowly kills you? Maybe you’ve been listening to the wrong voice?
We all have two voices, but only one is worth listening to.
Will you make the right choice?
Trusting it will bring some light to someone’s shadow,
Amale 💫💙
